Judges and Scoring

Dream Dolls is a "total package" pageant meaning that our judges will be looking for each of the following:

*Pretty Face 33%
*Great Personality 0-3yrs 33%
*Stage projection/modeling 4yrs & up 33%
*Proper Attire 33%

Preliminary pageants will be scoring facial beauty ( 1-10pts), personality 0-3 years (1-10pts), projection/modeling (1-10pts), and overall appearance (1-10pts).

The national pageant will use the same criteria but will use a point system of 9.5 pts to 10.5 pts.

Swimsuit: Contestants may wear one or two peice suits, coverups are allowed. Girls 13 and up should wear taupe or clear shoes. No thongs allowed. Miss America or Beauty style modeling. No proam modeling allowed at all. Swimsuits may be custom made or off the rack; glitzy or plain. Just make sure the outfit compliments the contestant.

Casualwear: Contestants may wear off the rack (store bought) outfits or custom made. The outfits should not be decorated with rhinestones or resemble a proam sportswear outfit. Your casualwear outfit should be something you would feel comfortable wearing to a dinner, informal party, the mall etc.
Modeling can be upbeat with very simple modeling gestures. No spins, kicks, jacket/scarf tricks, etc. This is not a proam event.

Photogenic: (color or black & white): Photos should be 8 x 10 inches or 8.5 x 11.5 inches. Headshots or head and shoulder poses work best. Quality, facial beauty and photographic ability will be judged. Each judge will individually select their personal favorite of the photos you submit and score that photo only. Each judge may select a different photo to score, however, the photo selection will be indicated on that particular judge’s score sheet.

Natural Photogenic: Same as photogenic, except that there is to be absolutely no digital retouching or airbrushing allowed.

Composite: This competition should consist of one photo which contains a collage of various other photos. color or black & white, digital retouching is fine. Photos will be scored on presentation, quality of photo and photogenic ability.

Judges Instructions:
Judges will take into consideration the age of the contestant. Judges will not deduct for missing teeth, braces, eyeglasses, blemishes or bruises. You can expect that our judges are familiar with childhood and teenage occurrences and will not hold them against you.
Judges will have read the entire application and will follow the same guidelines as have been provided to you.
Judges will remain after crowning to answer your questions. Please approach them in a respectable manner. Remember, we only use experienced judges and you could see them again someday at another pageant.
You will receive your original score sheets. We do ask that you accept your scores as they are and understand that decisions are final. Judges will be fair, qualified and in no way influenced by any contestant, vendor or pageant staff. Please have your score sheets and photos with you when you approach the judges table.
