Judges and Scoring
Dream Dolls is a "total package"
pageant meaning that our judges
will be looking for each of the
following:
*Pretty Face 33%
*Great Personality 0-3yrs 33%
*Stage projection/modeling 4yrs
& up 33%
*Proper Attire 33%
Preliminary pageants will be
scoring facial beauty (
1-10pts), personality 0-3 years
(1-10pts), projection/modeling
(1-10pts), and overall
appearance (1-10pts).
The national pageant will use
the same criteria but will use a
point system of 9.5 pts to 10.5
pts.
Swimsuit: Contestants may wear
one or two peice suits, coverups
are allowed. Girls 13 and up
should wear taupe or clear
shoes. No thongs allowed. Miss
America or Beauty style
modeling. No proam modeling
allowed at all. Swimsuits may be
custom made or off the rack;
glitzy or plain. Just make sure
the outfit compliments the
contestant.
Casualwear: Contestants may wear
off the rack (store bought)
outfits or custom made. The
outfits should not be decorated
with rhinestones or resemble a
proam sportswear outfit. Your
casualwear outfit should be
something you would feel
comfortable wearing to a dinner,
informal party, the mall etc.
Modeling can be upbeat with very
simple modeling gestures. No
spins, kicks, jacket/scarf
tricks, etc. This is not a proam
event.
Photogenic: (color or black &
white): Photos should be 8 x 10
inches or 8.5 x 11.5 inches.
Headshots or head and shoulder
poses work best. Quality, facial
beauty and photographic ability
will be judged. Each judge will
individually select their
personal favorite of the photos
you submit and score that photo
only. Each judge may select a
different photo to score,
however, the photo selection
will be indicated on that
particular judge’s score sheet.
Natural Photogenic: Same as
photogenic, except that there is
to be absolutely no digital
retouching or airbrushing
allowed.
Composite: This competition
should consist of one photo
which contains a collage of
various other photos. color or
black & white, digital
retouching is fine. Photos will
be scored on presentation,
quality of photo and photogenic
ability.
Judges Instructions:
Judges will take into
consideration the age of the
contestant. Judges will not
deduct for missing teeth,
braces, eyeglasses, blemishes or
bruises. You can expect that our
judges are familiar with
childhood and teenage
occurrences and will not hold
them against you.
Judges will have read the entire
application and will follow the
same guidelines as have been
provided to you.
Judges will remain after
crowning to answer your
questions. Please approach them
in a respectable manner.
Remember, we only use
experienced judges and you could
see them again someday at
another pageant.
You will receive your original
score sheets. We do ask that you
accept your scores as they are
and understand that decisions
are final. Judges will be fair,
qualified and in no way
influenced by any contestant,
vendor or pageant staff. Please
have your score sheets and
photos with you when you
approach the judges table. It
can be difficult for judges to
remember each contestant in
every category of competition.
It is very helpful to have your
photos with you and score sheets
with you.
Rules and Guidelines:
There is no refund of fees
unless the pageant is cancelled.
All cash and prizes are
guaranteed to be given as
stated. No prorated cash prizes
and no waiting.
The state and national pageant
will disburse cash prizes after
crowning photos have been taken.
Personal checks or E-checks will
not be accpeted within 14 days
prior to the scheduled event.
You will be permitted to
practice on stage after you have
registered, so please come early
as possible
All contestants along with their
family and friends will behave
in a way that promotes good
sportmanship. Anyone who behaves
badly will be required to leave
with no refund.
Door badge must be worn at all
times in the ballroom. If you
lose your badge, you will be
required to purchase another.
Your door badge will not be
replaced under any
circumstances.
Lineup requests will be honored
on a first come, first served
basis. Please do not enter at
the last minute and expect your
requested position; you should
know in advance you will be
towards the beginning of your
group lineup.
Do not ask who or how many are
in your group.
Please be on time to your
scheduled competition.
There will be a 90 second time
limit.
State & National Pageant events
will not allow cameras, video
cameras, or laptops and cell
phone ring tones must be silent
or turned off.
